Going to Perelada, the small town with population of just about 1500, may be interesting from many points. If you are keen on exploring the area's rich medieval history, you'll find impressive castle, Ņonvent and local museum. For those interested in sports, Perelada Golf Club offers a fine 18-hole course. You may visit casino in the castle and several excellent restaurants.
The town is also one of the centers of wine industry of Emporda with Castillo Perelada winery producing high quality wines and cavas. Additionally, Perelada is the home of a prominent international classical music festival.
The main attraction in Perelada is a medieval castle of Counts of Perelada surrounded by well-groomed park. The castle borders Convent of Nuestra Senora del Carme, founded 1206, formerly a Dominican friary, now a private property. It is worth visiting the local museum which tells the story of the area and provides a guided tour throughour several rooms of the castle and convent including huge library and wine cellars where famous Gran Claustro cava (sparkling wine) is produced.
